Riley Kelly leaned forward and focused on what was ahead.
Definitely a little nervous, she admitted with a slight smile.
But before she could even think more about that, she and a couple of teammates from Lincoln College Preparatory Academy pushed Rosie the Riveted, their robot known for a nasty-good aim with a flying disc, toward the ring.
Their alliance, which included two other teams, had made it to the quarterfinals of the seventh annual Greater Kansas City FIRST Robotics Competition. And, as they moved toward the ring, Kelly said a little prayer inside the Hale Arena. Don’t let anything break. Let everything work.
