How to Start a FIRST LEGO League Team

Come to a free informational session on FIRST programs for young people in kindergarten through eighth grade and learn what’s involved with starting a team.

The session will cover both FIRST LEGO League Explore and FIRST LEGO Challenge.

Come to one segment or both:

  • FIRST LEGO League Explore (K – 3rd grade) 11 a.m.-Noon
  • FIRST LEGO League Challenge (4th – 8th grade) 12:30- 1:30 p.m.

If you’d like to understand what’s required to start a team at your school, youth organization, or neighborhood group, this is the workshop for you! This also is a great opportunity for Rookie Teams, Rookie Coaches and Mentors, and young teams to learn and ask questions.

Topics include:
– Overview of the program
– What the season looks like
– How to register a team
– Typical budget and what you need (supplies, equipment)
– What a typical meeting looks like (structure, space, etc )
– Functions to fill within a team
– Where to go for help
– Questions/Answers

Please note that this seminar does not replace the Coaches’ Workshops for registered FIRST LEGO League teams. The September workshop includes detailed information about the new challenge, building and programming the robot, and judging and will take place on Sept. 21.
